At the moment in I.T. I am working on making on orchestra video. This is for the end of year assessment for this class. I took of different videos of the orchestra practising. I want to give an insight into the practises on Fridays at lunch time!  Can't wait till its done :)

Swim a mile pictures!

Next week all of TY will be going to the National aquatic centre to take part in swim a mile! We are all in groups of 3 - 8 people. I am in a group 3 and 1 counter, I'll approx be swimming about 20/21 lengths. Can't wait till next Friday, very excited about swimming for such a worthy cause! I started in my Third work experience placement today in Allsorts playschool, Celbridege. Take a look a my work experience blog (Link in link list) for regular updates on what i have been getting up to for the 6 weeks of work experience.

Wesley Choir Competition

The Choir performed the French song 'Caresse Sur L'Ocean', from the film Les Choristes, on Friday the 1st March in Wesley College Dublin. There are currently 55 members in the school choir who practice every Monday and Tuesday.We all sang very well during their performance.  

Hockey Final!

This Wednesday, the senior hockey team (which I am a member of) were in the final of the north side league in Dublin. We were against King's Hospital and playing at home because we won the toss to have it on our home turf. The senior team consists of Tys, 5th years and 6th years.

K.H scored in the first half early on. we had played well but they were on top. At the end of the first haft, everyone was slightly flat and disappointed that we had let in a goal. But we were far from out of it. Everyone really wanted and went back on to the field wanting to score a goal and win this!

About 2/3 minutes into the second half Eimer  scored a goal, to bring us level! Throughout the second we played much better. After 50 minutes the two teams couldn't be separated so we went to extra time, 7 minutes aside. 

Still after the 14 minutes of extra time we were still level. We then went to penalty flicks. 5 girls were chosen to take the penalties!  I was so scared!

 But in the end we Won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a picture of my poster for the Sci fest in schools competition. Our project was called Raise the result raise the Temperature. It was to do with how environmental temperature effects performance!

Lollipop Day!!!

About 2 weeks ago all T.Y. went  into town to collect money for Oesophageal Cancer. When we got there we  walked to the Powerscourt centre to collect our t-shirts, caps, collection buckets, lollipops and balloons. We then split up into our groups of 4 and went to our collection points doted around the city centre  myself, Katie, Orla, Orlaith were near Temple Bar at the Hay Penny bridge. Orlaith and I stood in an arch into temple bar with one bucket. We gave out stickers for any donations  and €2 for a lollipop or badge.

Besides the freezing cold, we really enjoyed ourselves!  People were really generous and interested in what we were collecting for (Oesophageal Cancer).

Shoot for the stars with Sportscope....

Our Mini Company Project -

Sportscope: was the name of our mini company. It is a sports skills App. for phones and computers. It would be used to help you improve and boost your knowledge in your chosen Sport. We were in a group of 8 and worked on making the App for many months. A lot of hard work was done to get it ready for the competition day. I was the managing director of our group. Unfortunately we didnt get through to the county final so that is how far we went, Although the  process was hard I enjoyed making the App.

The effects of War.....Drama

On tuesday, my class (siochain) when to Mullingar to compete in a T.Y. drama competition.
Just about 2/3 months ago in religion class our teacher told us she would like us to compete this competition.  We split into two groups based on a background idea war and homelessness because we learnt about about these topics in religion class. I joined the was group.

We decided to go with the effects of was instead of just the war. We began. brainstorming ideas. We basically very simply from when one of the girls said she wanted to die and another girl wanted to kill her lol :) :) :)

One and two girls decided to take our ideas and to the write the actual play/drama.
We began with a the basic script and added and changed it. We practiced for many weeks and eventually were ready to go! Are play was about how the effects of war are never ending. In the play we had one scenes where a therapist talks to people about their experience and effect of the war. After they talk they have flash backs about these experiences. I played a pregnant wife who finds out her husband has died in war :)

On the day everyone was very nervous but excited! We watched some of the other schools and practiced our own. We then all went to mc donalds as a class together that was great fun.

Our group went first out of our school. It was really good fun and it went very fast. All went well and I enjoyed it!!! :) :)

We will find out soon whether we get through to cork the all Irelands!!

After Christmas, I  started my second work experience placement in Boots Maynooth. For regular updates on how I am getting on check out my work experience blog! I will doing another work experience video soon....

Young Scientist!

Last week all the TYs went to the BT young scientist exhibition in the RDS Dublin.It was a great day where I learnt lots of valuable information and got a lots of free things :) One group from our school was actually in The competition. their project was on how school bags effect your back,neck and spine. Myself and two other classmates entered as group but we didnt get through!!
I really enjoyed the day overall!
